Instructions for International Students

Requiring a Non-Immigrant Student ''ED'' Visa

International students attending GIA Thailand On-Campus programs can expect their study at GIA Thailand to be an exciting and rewarding experience. The transition should not be difficult, but you must know certain rules and regulations which govern your stay in this country, and pertain to your enrollment in the Institute.

Normally, international students must have a Non-Immigrant Visa, type ''ED'' allowing them to attend On-Campus education at GIA Thailand. Applicants who enter Thailand under a visa status other than Non-Immigrant may encounter difficulties.

In addition to your enrollment application, GIA Thailand requires the following documents to complete your enrollment:

1. Copies of all pages in your passport.

2. A copy of either your secondary (high school), college/university diploma, your school's transcript or an equivalent affidavit from the Education Board in the country of your school proving your graduation and date. Please be sure that your names on these documents are exactly the same as on your passport.

3. Eight recent photos not more than 6 months old (6 of passport size and 2 of 1" X 1.3" size).

4. Two additional forms are required by the Ministry of Education in Thailand. Only the original forms must be submitted, copies or faxes are not permitted.

  • Personal History
  • Purpose of Attending the Course

All documents sent to GIA Thailand Admissions Office must be in English or include an English-language translation which is certified by your government.

These documents are required to submit to the Ministry of Education in Thailand. The permission letter for obtaining your Non-Immigrant Visa, type "ED" will be mailed to you as soon as GIA Thailand has received all papers and payments to complete your file and reserve your space in class. After you receive the permission letter from GIA Thailand, you should take the permission letter to apply for the visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country.

GIA can not supply the permission letter until the registration fee, confirmation deposit and 50% of your class, program, or course fees have been paid.

IMPORTANT:

GIA Thailand will need a minimum of 45 days before your course start date to process your application.

Applicants who enroll closer to the start date may not receive a Non-Immigrant student visa or a visa for the full duration of their study. In this case students are welcome to enroll, however, students should prepare a budget for travel to adjacent countries for visa renewal. For the information, contact GIA Thailand.

We recommend students to arrive in Thailand seven to ten days before the class start date. This will allow time to find accommodation.
